“Moon Girl” Teaser Displays Incredible Animation
Grab your aspiring engineers and inventors! “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” is phasing into view on Disney Channel. A quick teaser was released today giving us a glimpse into this fascinating character as well as the premise of the exciting new show.
Lawrence Fishburne, who serves as executive producer as well as a voice talent, opens the clip declaring it a special holiday treat. The clip shows the titular characters roller-blading and flying through the sky while testing out various inventions along the way.
Moon Girl is a very new entry to Marvel comics, first debuting in 2015. The comic tells the story of Lunella Lafayette, a 9-year-old, African American girl who daydreams and has a passion for invention. Despite her immense intellect and talent, her situation leaves her unable to get into a better school. Instead, she finds herself instead stymied in a public school system. Her head-in-the-sky persona makes her earthly classmates chide her with the name “Moon Girl.” Through a series of events and inventions, Lunella ends up being connected through her mind to the interdimensional beast Devil Dinosaur and hijinks ensue. Moon Girl will be voiced by Diamond White, known for her role as Fuli on “The Lion Guard.” She is joined by legendary actress, Alfre Woodard, and “Saturday Night Live” alum, Sasheer Zamata.
Fishburne’s Leadership in “Moon Girl”
Executive Producer Lawrence Fishburne is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fishburne played Dr. Bill Foster, also known as Giant-Man, in “Ant Man and the Wasp” as well as the Silver Surfer in Fox’s “Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.” While Marvel was courting him for a role in the MCU, Marvel Producer Louis D’Esposito showed Fishburne “Moon Girl” as a possible entry into the saga.
“”It’s been in the works for a long time and Laurence Fishburne producing it for a while, trying to make it happen. It’s gone through a lot of different phases of development, as cartoons sometimes do, but the announcement today was fantastic. I was almost as surprised as anybody else. I only knew about it for a little while before it became official … I’m looking forward to it like all the fans who have been excited. I’ve only seen bits and pieces. I’m only a short distance ahead of all the fans, so I’m looking forward to it just like everybody else,” said show co-creator Brandon Montclare in an article published by SyFy.
Fishburne, a long time collector of DC and Marvel comic books including “Moon-Boy and Devil Dinosaur,” certainly seems proud of the show based on the short introduction he provided in today’s teaser.

“You can’t be what you can’t see. As a child, it’s very important for you to be able to see examples of what you want to be, and to have the opportunity to do that here, to be able to create that for yourself,” Fishburne said in a Laughing Place panel discussion over the summer.
“Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” will premiere during the summer of 2022 on the Disney Channel.
