Boatwright’s Dining Hall Has Officially Reopened and MickeyBlog is There
The day has arrived. MickeyBlog is coming to you LIVE from Disney’s Port Orleans-Riverside where we have spent the evening tucking into some delicious Southern Cuisine at Boatwright’s Dining Hall. For those unfamiliar, this is the table service eatery at Riverside and though the resort opened in October the eatery has remained closed to guests until NOW!
As you can see, there is signage posted at the resort announcing the reopening.
Our MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa had a reservation right at 5pm.
Above is the famous Boatwright’s sign which no doubt you’ve seen in a lot of pictures of the resort.
Things were still relatively quiet when we arrived to dine!
Cast members seemed enthusiastic to reopen the shop.
If you’re staying on property, you can peruse the menu just outside of the Dining Hall. You can also find it on the My Disney Experience App.
We are waiting for our name to be called to be seated.
Like most of the other eateries you’ll find at Walt Disney World you can arrange for the restaurant to text you when your table is available.
Here the staff is waiting for the official go-ahead to start seating guests.
Here’s a quick look at the dining area.
We’ve always loved the ambiance of Boatwrights.
Though it is table service, it is definitely casual for those wondering what to wear.
Before we know it, our name is called and we get to walk by all of the excited cast members.
They even had time to give us a big thumbs up!
Here we are entering the dining area.
We were the first to be seated and everything was lovely and tranquil.
You can see that we are in the dining room just off the main area where you check in.
Guests were able to scan the code left at the tables to take a look at the menu using the My Disney Experience app.
There was also a leaflet advertising the wines, beers and cocktails you could get on property.
The fire is a nice touch and makes us feel extra cozy.
According to the staff at Boatwright’s this evening the restaurant is at about 70% capacity for dinner. They advised that this is about 200 reservations.
They also said that they will be at 100% capacity the week of Christmas.
Greg started off his meal with the Magical Beacon Cocktail.
This drink was created for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration.
It came with a fun souvenir glow cube.
It’s made with Empress 1908 Gin, Bols Blue Curacao, Minute Maid premium orange juice, Orgeat (almond) Lemon, Hibiscus and Grenadine.
According to Greg it was delicious!
While we waited for our appetizers, a loaf of warm cornbread was brought to the table.
It came with a mound of butter topped with honey.
The bread was absolutely delicious. Elyssa called it sweet and yummy.
It was quite a nice portion as well!
Next up was the French Onion Soup.
As you can see it looks positively perfect.
That all important top layer of bread and cheese was just right!
This beautiful trio is known as the Mardi Gras Fritters.
They are Pimento Cheese Fritters topped with a pepper jelly.
This is another dish that gets a big thumbs up from Elyssa!
When it comes to Entrees, Greg and Elyssa tried the Deep South Shrimp and Grits. It retails for $24.00 and comes with Sustainable Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, Spicy Cream Sauce, Creamy Charleston-style Grits.
The colossal feast above is the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Chef’s Platter!
It comes in at $35.00 and features Ribs, Nashville Hot Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Barbecued Beef Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Macaroni and Cheese, Street Corn and Green Beans!
Who is ready for dessert!?
Greg and Elyssa opted to finish up their meal with the Pecan Pie Cheesecake.
This treat was absolutely delicious and made of Pecan-Graham Cracker Crust, Creamy Vanilla Cheesecake, Pecan Pie Filling, Bourbon-Caramel Sauce and Spicy Candied Pecans.
A slice of the pie will set you back $8.00 and all we can say is that it was the perfect ending to a delightful meal.
Boatwrights is now open for dinner daily from 5- 9pm. We recommend making reservations in advance using the My Disney Experience app especially over the busy holiday period. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog where we’ll continue to come to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week during the holidays!
