Orange County Declared COVID Hotspot Again
With cases, deaths and positivity rates on the rise, Orange County found itself on the White House list of “hotspots” again on Thursday for the first time in weeks. Home to Lake Buena Vista and the Walt Disney World Resort, Orange County represents the only Orlando area county on the list, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
“Communities are labeled hotspots if they have ‘reached a threshold of disease activity considered as being of high burden.’ Orange is the only county in the Orlando metropolitan area that has this designation, one of two in Central Florida and one of four in the state,” the Sentinel article states.
Today’s (12/10) COVID-19 14-Day Rolling Percent Positivity AVG for @OrangeCoFL is 3.69%.

Still, compared to locations in the Northeast, Midwest, and southern California, Orange County remained on the low end of the threshold of case numbers on the list of Rapid Riser Counties, according to the Community Profile Report released on Thursday by the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Defense.
