Disneyland and Make-A-Wish Collaborate on Star Wars-Themed Fundraising Event
Are you feeling the Force…of Disneyland’s collaboration with Make-A-Wish Foundation!? Disney has a long history of teaming up with the charity to bring some pixie dust to children in need and last night this culminated in the Galaxy of Wishes fundraising event.
The event was held by Disneyland Resort, Make-A-Wish Orange County & Inland Empire and Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The goal was to be able to provide even more opportunities to make the wishes of children in need come true!
This was the first-of-its-kind event on the planet of Batuu which served as the perfect backdrop as guests were able to have their own wish fulfilled of being immersed in the Star Wars universe. Disneyland’s new 2022-2023 ambassadors Mark and Nataly were on hand as well as Disneyland President Ken Potrock to celebrate the longstanding collaboration between Disneyland and Make-A-Wish.
Ken Potrock had this to say about the special evening, “Tonight is very special. It is all about helping kids and giving hope to children and their families when they need it most. A wish brings joy and happiness to children with critical illness, helping them forget about hospitals, doctors and treatments so they can just be a kid…bringing magic to children and families is part of our Disney DNA.”
For over four decades, Disney has celebrated its global partnership with Make-A-Wish and to date has granted over 145,000 wishes to children with life-threatening conditions. As a matter of fact, Disney was a part of the first wish granted by Make-A-Wish back in 1980 when 7-year old Frank Bopsy Salazar visited the park. Since then the company has continued the tradition of making Disney dreams come true of children and their families whether its a hotel stay or a special meet and greet.
Disney even has cast members that were former Make-A-Wish recipients like Lexi, who now works at the resort as an entertainment host along with Danny Salas pictured above. He is now a gatherer at Savi’s Workshop in Disneyland park and has uses his artistic abilities to create his own fundraiser for Make-A-Wish.
Funds raised from last night’s event will continue to support Make-A-Wish and ensure that more life-changing wishes can come true. To learn more about this partnership and how you can make a contribution you can visit wish.org/Disney.
