12 Must-Dos for Adults on a Walt Disney World Vacation
f you know me, you know I am a huge believer in adults-only Walt Disney World vacations! That’s why I am excited to share 12 must-dos for adults enjoying a Walt Disney World vacation!
1. Celebrate 50 Years of Walt Disney World Magic
Now, more than ever, is the best time to embark on your Walt Disney World vacation as the iconic resort is in the middle of the “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” celebrating 50 years of magic.
This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy everything EARidescent, experience all new experiences, and so much more!
2. Re-Create Your Favorite Childhood Photos
Look how far you have come when you take a photo in the same exact spot you did when you were a child during your Walt Disney World vacation. This is definitely something that only adults can do!
3. Soak in Extra Holiday Magic
Enjoy the holidays like a kid again when you plan your Walt Disney World vacation during the holiday season and this year is no exception! With Very Merriest After Hours at the Magic Kingdom that offers Guests the opportunity to enjoy their favorite attractions with little to no wait times in a festive atmosphere to seasonal decorations, jolly entertainment, festive treats, this is so much to experience at all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks through end of the year!
4. Enjoy a Festival at EPCOT
While the Magic Kingdom is my favorite, EPCOT is my favorite park to recommend for adults to visit during their Walt Disney World vacation – especially for the festivals.
Currently, the International Festival of the Holidays is underway through the end of the year. Then, towards the end of January 2022, the Festival of the Arts will kick off at EPCOT.
The EPCOT Festival of the Arts is then followed by the springtime favorite, The EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival.
As Summer comes into view, EPCOT Guests are treated to the iconic Food & Wine Festival which usually is offered through mid-November.
5. Hit Your Favorite Attractions
Being an adult at Walt Disney World means no attractions are off limits! It also means you get to reminisce about your visits from your childhood by riding your favorites once again like “it’s a small world” and Peter Pan.
Don’t forget to check out the attractions that might have debuted in recent years like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom, Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
6. Run Through the Parks with runDisney
If you want a chance to experience Walt Disney World like most people have never had the opportunity to, you definitely need to register for a runDisney event!
These events are designed for everyone of all skill levels and give participants the perfect chance to take a run past their favorite Walt Disney World landmarks, spot some rare characters, and more.
7. Sink Your Teeth Into Sweet Treats
One of my favorite things about visiting Walt Disney World as an adult is that there is that no one is telling you to not eat all the sweet treats! So, this is your permission to try a DOLE Whip, churros, Mickey Ice Cream Bars, and ALL the treats.
I promise you that they might even taste better as an adult than they did as a kid!
8. Enjoy a Night at Disney Springs
If you are looking for nightlife, Disney Springs has it all! This shopping, entertainment, and dining Disney destination offers everything from bowling to bars – and so much more!
Guests can try out their bowling skills at Splitsville and see the latest movie at AMC Disney Springs 24 Dine-In Theater. There’s also a chance to sample some amazing craft crews at City Works Eatery & Pour House or experience the industrial vibe served up alongside vintage cocktails at The Edison.
Just for the holiday season, the Indiana Jones-themed bar, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has received a festive transformation to Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar making it the perfect location to enjoy a quick bite and a delicious holiday-themed drink.
Not to be forgotten is the just-opened Drawn to Life Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs. This show is a must-see!
9. Stay in the Middle of Magic at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel
It doesn’t matter if you are just a kid or a full-grown adult, a stay at an official Walt Disney World Resort Hotel is a must during your vacation!
While staying in the middle of the magic is enough to make me happy, Walt Disney World Resort Hotels also offer close proximity and transportation to the Theme Parks and Disney Springs.
As an added bonus, select Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Score!
In addition, Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are allowed access to every Park 30 minutes before the general public. Guests staying at Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts are also invited to stay up to two hours after the Parks close on select nights.
10. Park Hop to You Drop
If you are an adult on a Walt Disney World vacation, Park Hopping is a must! If your dream day is starting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway followed by a spin on Ratatouille at EPCOT, followed by a quick hop over to the Magic Kingdom for the Haunted Mansion, the Park Hopper will give you all the flexibility you need.
11. End the Day with Fireworks in the Night Sky
Another advantage of visiting Walt Disney World as an adult is no one is there to tell you it’s bed time! That means you can stay up as late as you please to enjoy the all-new Harmonious nighttime spectacular at EPCOT and the all-new Disney Enchantment at the Magic Kingdom.
12. May the Force be With You in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Relive your childhood as you step into one of the most immersive lands in all Disney Parks – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! While there build your own custom droid at the Droid Depot or pilot “the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
I don’t know about you, but the next time someone tells me “Walt Disney World isn’t for adults,” I will reference this list. Walt Disney World is definitely for children and children at heart. As Peter Pan says, “Never grow up.”
