Hong Kong Disneyland Shut Down For Day After Guest Tests Positive for COVID
Reports are coming in that Hong Kong Disneyland was forced to shut its gates for the day after a visitor at the park over the weekend tested positive for COVID-19. As a recent piece in Forbes points out, this bears a striking similarity to what happened weeks ago at Shanghai Disneyland which went into lockdown due to a single case.

Hong Kong Disneyland said it closed today due to “an abundance of caution” and to give affected employees time to get tested for COVID-19. According to Forbes, the Hong Kong government which has a majority stake in the theme park directed visitors at the park on Sunday between 11 am – 6pm to get a COVID-19 test by Thursday.
There’s been no report yet as to what impact today’s closure at Hong Kong will have on operating hours for the rest of the week. This closure is happening only three weeks after Shanghai Disney was forced to shut down for several days. In the case of Shanghai, guests were locked inside the theme park on October 31st so that 34,000 people could be tested.
This is in stark contrast to the domestic theme parks which have eased up on most COVID-19 restrictions. However, both China and Hong Kong have been know for their aggressive measures to eliminate COVID-19. Mask mandates are still in place at the theme parks as are temperature checks and physical distancing.
