‘it’s a small world’ Has Reopened With Holiday Overlay After Flooding
We’ve got some exciting news for our West Coast Disney fans. If you were following along with us last month, you may remember that we reported that beloved Disneyland attraction “it’s a small world” would be closed INDEFINITELY after flooding caused damage to the ride. .
According to a piece that ran in ComicBook.com at the time, the flooding was a result of technicians refilling the ride’s waterways after the finishing touches were added to “it’s a small world” Holiday” which is the popular seasonal overlay for the ride. During the refill, some of the machinery for the ride was damaged and Disneyland was forced to close the ride.
There was much speculation from insiders that the ride would be closed for a lengthy period of time including this tweet below from Disney Parks Expert and Historian Dave Koening:
First reports of the delayed reopening of It’s a Small World at Disneyland made me think of the 2018 flooding of a control room at Disney California Adventure that kept World of Color closed for nine months. Little did I realize how similar the two events were.

However, it looks like the ride has fared better than expected. Looking at the Disneyland app this morning, “it’s a small world” Holiday currently appears to be running with both wait times and hours posted. Let’s take a look:
As you can see from this screenshot taken this morning, a 10 minute wait is currently being posted for “it’s a small world” Holiday.
Hours for the attraction are also officially posted on the app and on disneyland.com making us think that it’s an official re-opening rather than a test period!
This means that visitors to Disneyland during the holiday period can once again enjoy the seasonal décor and absolutely stunning lightning of “it’s a small world” Holiday once again this season!
We’ll continue to follow this story closely. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for further Disneyland news and updates.
