Sony Announces Spider-Man Will Remain in the MCU with a Brand New Trilogy
One of the most anticipated films in recent memory, Spider-Man: No Way Home was thought to be the end of an era, yet is proving to be just the beginning as Sony announces Spider-Man will remain in the MCU.
There has been no shortage of uncertainty regarding the future of Tom Hollands Peter Parker after what promises to be an epic third film in the characters MCU saga.
There were many who assumed that Holland would follow the rights of the character; which have been confirmed to be reverting to Sony Pictures after the conclusion of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With recent interviews in GQ Magazine confirming that Hollands contract was true, coming to an end following the December film, the future looked all the more confusing; with many not certain if the actor would continue playing the character at all.
It appears that we may have an answer as to what the future holds for Tom Holland and his role as Peter Parker; and boy it wasn’t what we expected.
Speaking to Fandango, Amy Pascal- the head producer from Sony that has been tasked with collaborating with Marvel on these MCU Spider-Man films- revealed that the end is nowhere in sight, as Tom Holland Spider-Man will remain in the MCU.
What’s even more exciting is that he will get a brand new trilogy of films with Marvel Studios!
This opens up a world of possibilities for the MCU, and for the character of Spider-Man; with his future safely secured at Marvel, we can expect Spider-Man: No Way Home to be an evolution of the character as we know him, but not the end of his MCU journey.
Does this mean that other Sony Spiderverse characters could appear in the MCU? it certainly wouldn’t surprise us, but the important thing is that Tom Holland will continue as Peter Parker, and allow the MCU to grow around his presence as perhaps the most popular character in comic history.
