Père Noël Visits the France Pavilion for Festival of the Holidays
Père Noël is back in the France pavilion as part of the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays!
MickeyBlog was in World Showcase this morning for day 1 of the seasonal festival when Père Noël, also known as Father Christmas, made his first appearance of the year. This is the old world gift-giving figure in France, the legend that modern day “Santa Clause” is believed to have originated from.
According to traditional Father Christmas folklore, children leave shoes by their door or fireplace with treats for Père Noël and his animals. Overnight, Père Noël takes the children’s offerings and leaves them small presents in return, like small toys, candy, pastries or coins.
Epcot’s Father Christmas is classically adorned in red velvety robes with tan and gold accents. He appears in the France pavilion amid a decorative backdrop of poinsettias and golden ropes. He shares the story of Père Noël along with a Christmas letter from a child with Guests.
The Festival of the Holidays celebrates holiday traditions from around the world as Guests make their way around the World Showcase. Go on a musical tour of Canada, learn about Hanukkah, or see the Daruma dolls of Japan! The Festival runs from today through the end of December, only in Epcot!
