Festival of the Holidays Treats That Kids Will Love
The 2021 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays kicks off tomorrow and if there’s one question I get asked the most about the annual event it is whether or not its worth taking the kids! The answer, as far as I’m concerned, is a resounding yes! There’s a family-friendly scavenger hunt with Olaf, storytelling at the World Showcase and so much more! And don’t get me started on the eats and treats. With that in mind, I’ve come up with a list of items being served up at this year’s holiday kitchens that are kid approved (you can thank my 11 year old!)
Peppermint Sundae – Holiday Sweets and Treats
It may be the holidays but in Florida its pretty darn hot. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with two things that kids are sure to love- ice cream and candy canes. The Peppermint Sundae features chocolate ice cream, a heaping spoonful of whipped cream and peppermint candy!
Salted Caramel Spaceship Earth Cookie – Holiday Hearth
Look for this kiosk near Port of Entry where they are serving up a holiday sugar cookie with a twist. Kids will love the Spaceship Earth shape of this cookie and the caramel filling is a dream!
PS: There is a non-alcoholic Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon also served up at Holiday Hearth that is like a levelled-up apple juice! Kids are sure to love it!
Turkey Poutine – Refreshment Port (Near Canada)
Parents looking for a treat for the kids that eats like a meal will want to stop at Refreshment Port for this fabulous all-in-one Thanksgiving Dinner with a twist. This delectable dish features French Fries and Turkey doused in gravy with cranberry relish and crispy onions on the top!
Snickers- Doodle Cookie – Yukon Holiday Kitchen (Canada)
If snicker-doodles are a must-have holiday cookie in your household than kids are sure to love this goodie. It takes its name seriously and is actually covered with Snickers bar pieces!
Chirashi Sushi Tree – Shi Wasu Holiday Kitchen (Japan)
If you’re kids are sushi obsessed (like mine) or if you’re just looking for a healthy treat, this dish at the Japan pavilion always brings a smile. The Sushi Tree is made up of Sashimi-grade tuna, salmon, ikura, yellowtail and veggies decorated on an artistic bed of rice.
PS: If Boba Tea is all the rage with your teens or tweens, you’ll also find a Chocolate Banana Boba here that is divine and comes with banana syrup and strawberry boba popping pearls!
Mini Pumpkin Pie Funnel Cake – Funnel Cake (American Adventure)
Who doesn’t love funnel cake and this one conjures up the cozy tastes of Mom’s pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. Its comprised of a pumpkin funnel cake topped with ice cream, whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles- YUM!
Slow-roasted Turkey – American Holiday Table
The American Adventure Pavilion is the place to go for American-style holiday comfort food! If your little ones love Thanksgiving dinner as much as mine does than you’ll definitely want to order up this entrée. It comes complete with BEN’s ORIGINAL stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce!
Bomboloni alla Cioccolato-Nocciola – Tuscany Holiday Kitchen (Italy)
Don’t let the name fool you. This is essentially a Nutella donut, so what’s not to love!? This Italian donut is filled with chocolate-hazelnut spread and comes doused in powdered sugar. It’s perfect if you’ve ever had to yell at your kids to stop eating the Nutella directly out of the jar!
