For all of those arriving or departing from Orlando International Airport (MCO) this holiday weekend, remember to bring a heaping spoonful of patience! This busy Central Florida airport took to social media today to remind guests that Thanksgiving has the busiest travel days of the year.
Whether you’re coming, or going from Orlando, you definitely want to allow for extra time and will want to pay close attention to parking availability. You can check out MCO’s official tweet below:
The busiest days of this #Thanksgiving travel period have arrived with more than 930k travelers passing through today until Tuesday, 11/30. If you’re one of our travelers please make sure to plan ahead, arrive early and pack your patience. pic.twitter.com/8Hrzn74pOE

As you can see, Orlando International Airport expects an incredible 930,000 passengers to make there way through the airport between today (November 24) and next Tuesday (November 30th.) For those flying out of MCO this week, don’t forget about a service that we here at MickeyBlog introduced you to a few weeks back that can streamline the security process.
If you’re departing from our airport, check out our pilot program: Reservation Lane powered by @Clear. Reserve a time slot to go through security, show up at that time, scan your reservation and go through an exclusive & shorter lane (from 5am-11am).

As you can see from the post above, Orlando International Airport is currently running a pilot program with a new Reservation Lane. You can pre-book a time slot to go through security. Simply show up at that time, scan your reservation and you’ll be ushered through an exclusive and shorter lane. Guests should note that this service is available from 5 am – 11 am only!
Traveling by car this weekend? According to AAA so are 53.4 million other people! That means very busy roads especially around major metropolitan areas. AAA recommends travelling at the following times to avoid heavy traffic:
- Wednesday after 9 p.m.
- Thursday before 11 a.m.
- Friday before 11 a.m.
- Saturday and Sunday before 12 p.m.
Visiting Walt Disney World? Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest times of year to visit Walt Disney World. As an example the picture above was taken on Main Street U.S.A at the Magic Kingdom last night! Similar to our airport recommendations, allow plenty of time to arrive at the park, get through the entrance and arrive in time for those dining reservations. As a general rule, the earlier you arrive at the theme parks each morning the better. Crowds are the shortest first thing in the morning and usually reach their peak around noon!
Whether by planes, trains or automobiles, we here at MickeyBlog are wishing you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for further Disney-related news and updates. We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks throughout the holiday season!
