‘Hawkeye’ Early Reactions Are In; Marvel Creates a New Christmas Classic
With Eternals in the midst of its opening week, the MCU’s newest addition in the form of a Clint Barton-centered series is only a few weeks away; we now have some first impressions as the Hawkeye early reactions are in on the heels of Disney+ Day!
Based around the MCU’s most prolific archer, this new Disney+ series will follow the adventures of Clint Bartons Hawkeye, and his new self recruited protege Kate Bishop.
Many fans are uncertain of what to expect; with the immense success of Marvel’s other Disney+ series boding well for Hawkeye’s potential, the MCU has faltered with the seeming division over the critical reception of Eternals.
Either way, Hawkeye attempts to take the MCU where it has never gone before; the Christmas season. Which is an endeavor that seems to pay dividends for the series.
Hawkeye is good, Christmasy fun. It does feel the least ambitious of the MCU series thus far (obviously that could change after 2 episodes). Reminds me a bit of the Netflix series. Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop is a treat and I can’t wait until she meets Pugh’s Yelena. #Hawkeye pic.twitter.com/NcroguuQgK

Richard Newby, a contributor for The Hollywood Reporter, spoke about the holiday aspects of the series being a bright spot and notes the similarity in tone the series has with the Marvel Netflix projects.
The connection between Hawkeye and Marvel’s work with Netflix seems to imply a certain grounding that often existed in those shows; with a hyper-focus on the humanity and realness of a superhero universe.
#Hawkeye is freaking phenomenal, most fun I've had watching a #Marvel show all year! @JeremyRenner finally gets the perfect showcase and is a complete badass while @HaileeSteinfeld is effortlessly charming as #KateBishop. Probably my favorite new addition to the MCU. pic.twitter.com/CWQmEugXLf

A Rotten Tomatoes approved film critic, Rohan Patel spoke very highly of the series; noting the reckoning that Renners’ Barton receives in the title role, and the charm exuded during Hailee Steinfeld’s debut as Bishop.
Patel also noted that the holiday setting, and Barton’s quest to return to his family in time for Christmas, give the series a sense of urgency that makes the decision on when the story will take place perfect for the narrative.
#Hawkeye is classic Marvel action-adventure comedy. It leans in heavily to the joy of Christmas and the idea of family. #HaileeSteinfeld absolutely steals the show and owns the screen. pic.twitter.com/l88vdiuZmR

Podcaster and movie reviewer, Neill Vagg, also noted the benefit of Hawkeyes holiday setting; adding to the ideas and themes the series was attempting to put forth to the audience.
A common theme among those who reviewed the series is the incredible performance by Hailee Steinfeld; whose Kate Bishop does her comic counterpart every ounce of justice.
#Hawkeye opens on a really cool sequence that is super rewarding for long time MCU fans. I loved it.
Hailee Steinfeld is a great, energized Kate Bishop. Great new addition who hits the mark!
The future for Kate & Clint's dynamic seems really, really fun. Watched 2 eps, want 3! pic.twitter.com/BzBsuc5XmC

ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis also spoke the praises of the series; noting how long time MCU fans will feel when they finally get to see the fun, holiday, story debut in just a few weeks.
As Hawkeye early reactions are in, we just know that we couldn’t be more excited to see Clint Barton in his own solo series and the long-awaited debut of Kate Bishop.
Not to mention Lucky…We cannot wait to meet Lucky!
