We’ve Got More Details on the Acts That Will Appear in ‘Drawn To Life’
Here at MickeyBlog HQ, we have been counting down the days until Cirque du Soleil’s newest production makes its debut at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. Disney and Cirque du Soleil have just unveiled details on some of the incredible acts that you’ll be able to enjoy during the production and we’re excited to share with you.
When the show (a first-of-its-kind creative collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and Disney) debuts on November 18th it will feature 10 distinct acrobatic performances. Two of these performances were just revealed by Disney and we are so excited to share the details with you.
The acts in question are titled “Garden of Lines” unicycle and “The Old Mill” double wheel acts.
For those unfamiliar, Drawn to Life is a live acrobatic journey that tells the story of Julie, a determined, girl who discovers an unexpected gift left by her Disney Animator father- an unfinished animation.
Julie then dives into the inner world of animation with a bit of help from a surprising pencil. What happens next is an inspiring quest filled with her childhood Disney memories. The project was developed in partnership with Walt Disney Imagination and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
The production is driven by 10 unique acrobatic acts alongside animation from some of your favorite Disney films. The animation was specially created for the show by Eric Goldberg who helped bring the Disney animated film Aladdin to life.
Here are some specifics and the two acts mentioned above:
“Garden of Lines” Unicycle Act- Julie is swept into a wonderland of familiar shadows, shapes and outlines. This act pays homage to cherished tales that inspire an animator. Julie’s whimsical mood fixates on a mischievous marionette from an Italian fairytale. Five unicyclists representing the Blue Fairy from Disney classic Pinocchio seem to fly effortlessly across the stage. You’ll be in awe of the synchronized stunts and individual tricks.
“The Old Mill” Double Wheel Act – This piece was inspired by Disney’s 1937 animated short of the same name which is projected onto the backdrop during this act. Owls dreamed up by Julie’s imagination weather a storm using teamwork and courage to carry them through a powerful storm that threatens their home. The windmill is an impressive double wheeled structure. Acrobats are in constant motion with the turn wheels and at times even take to the skies with incredible balance and agility.
