Video: Disney Cast Members Share Helpful Tips on NEW Disney Genie Service
It’s impossible not to know at this stage that Disney’s Genie, Genie+ and Lightning Lane offerings went live earlier this morning.
The new Genie adds greater functionality to the My Disney Experience app and now offers front of the line access for an additional fee. For those heading to the theme parks in the days or weeks ahead, Disney cast members have a tip on using the new service.

Here’s another look at these cast member helpful hints:
Make sure you have the latest version of the My Disney Experience app downloaded onto your phone or other smart device. You can find the app at the Apple Store or on the Google Play store.
Be sure to log into the app and add your vacation package to be able to unlock all of the handy tools that have just been added to My Disney Experience with the launch of Disney Genie.
Also, don’t forget to make sure that a valid ticket is linked for every person in your party.
Help Disney create the right recommendations for you. You can start by letting Disney World know what your interests are. There’s a wide range of topics including Princess Lovers, Thrill Ride Seekers and more!
Once you’ve let Genie know a little bit more about you, the app will create and itinerary filled with suggestions on ways to have a magical day. Best of all, this itinerary updates throughout the day!
Don’t think all of Disney Genie’s suggestions will work for you? No problem. You can edit these plans by visiting the Edit Selections under My Tip Board to customize your plans.
Disney Genie isn’t just about the attractions either! You can also view dining options in the parks, order food using the Mobile Ordering function and even join stand-by lists for eateries that are fully booked.
You can also check current wait times for all theme park attractions and choose your next ride accordingly saving you time waiting in line.
For those not waiting in line, you also have the option of adding Lightning Lane access to your tickets at the push of a button.
The app will also show you what rides are included in Genie+ for your front-of-the-line access.
In addition, you’ll be able to see what rides need to be paid for a la carte as part of the premium service. It will also give you the costs to use this service to enjoy Disney’s premium rides and attractions.
With the introduction of Genie+, there is no more waking up in the wee hours of the morning 60 days out to make your FastPass selections. Reservations are made one at a time. You can make your first selection at 7am on the day that you’re visiting that park.
In addition, a perk of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is that resort guests can also purchase “a la carte” Lightning Lane access at 7am while offsite guests must wait until the park opens.
Disney Genie also has an in app assistance function that allows you to ask any Disney World-related questions you may have while at the parks.
