Marvel Reportedly Casts Bill Murray in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qantumania’
With Marvel’s vast slate of Phase Four films well underway, production on one of their highly anticipated films has given us news that Marvel reportedly casts Bill Murray in Ant-Man and the Wast: Quantumania.
The third Ant-Man film has been rumored to have cast the Hollywood veteran in an undisclosed role in the highly anticipated MCU film.
First reported by Cosmic Circus, then followed up by CBR.com, a casting listing for the highly anticipated film points tot he Groundhog Day, and Ghostbusters star will be making his MCU debut in the film.
Following a post on Mandy.com, the listing that was first reported is for an actor named John Townsend, who was hired to work as a photo double for Bill Murray on a film called “Dust Bunny,” which is the ongoing production name for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

We know that the film has been going by this production name for the entirety of its production, so it seems very accurate that this casting would be made, and a phot double would be required for certain scenes Murray would be asked to shoot.
The original report for the casting also notes Peyton Reed, the director of the film, has a very public fondness for Bill Murray as a performer; noting a tweet written by Reed in early 2021, showing a signed image of Murray.
A Pre-SNL Bill Murray played The Human Torch in the Fantastic Four Radio Show back in 1975. I was a fan. Years later, at the GROUNDHOG DAY junket, he signed this for me.

The tweet showed how long the director has admired the work of the veteran comedy actor, and the joy he had in just receiving an autograph of him; this may feed the rumor that Reed would take any chance to work with such a hero of his.
Although the theory may hold weight, and fans would love to see an actor of Murray’s ilk perform opposite the incredibly funny and charismatic duo of Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily, CBR.com affirms that the reports stay unconfirmed, and remained a rumor to this point.
With the film’s release date slated for early 2023, and production on the project only recently beginning, it may be some time before we get a clearer picture as to who will be in the film.
We do know that this third film in Ant-Mans MCU will feature, not only the return of many of the beloved characters we have come to expect but also the debut of Marvel’s next premiere villain, Kang the Conqueror.

We saw Jonathan Majors, the actor tasked with bringing the villainous Kang to life, portray a variant of the character in Loki’s He Who Remains; but this version will no doubt be more ruthless and monstrous than his much more logical multiversal counterpart.
Aside from the news the Marvel reportedly casts Bill Murray in the anticipated Ant-Man 3, we know the film should have tons of surprises, and we cant wait to see what Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, and Peyton Reed have in store for Ant-Man and Wasp’s next adventure!
