Disneyland Monorail Cast Members Are Back On The Job
If anyone has missed the Disneyland Monorail more than guests, it’s the cast members who call the iconic attraction home. On Friday, the Disneyland Monorail opened again to guests for the first time in 19 months.
“Most of all we’ve missed the time to sit and talk with the guest, find out where they’re from, why they’re here and how their day is going,” said attraction host, Bill Jenkins.
The first daily operating monorail in the Western Hemisphere, the Disneyland Monorail has carried guests through the twisting turns in Tomorrowland since 1959, expanding two years later to include a stop at the Disneyland Hotel (now the Downtown Disney District).
Mike Gibson, who has been driving the Disneyland Monorail since 1990, said guests have missed the monorail. “The guests are very excited and they keep asking me about them when we are doing testing,” he said. And the team is now ready to welcome them back and transport them around the resort on the highway in the sky.
The Disneyland Monorails are now operating during regular operating hours. As a reminder, guests are required to wear a face covering while onboard.
