‘Eternals’ Will Reportedly Be One Of Marvels Longest Movies Yet
Just a few weeks away, the MUC’s newest family of immortal heroes will debut with a story spanning centuries; we now know that Eternals will reportedly be one of Marvel’s longest movies yet.
The newest Marvel installment is perhaps the most ambitious project that the MCU has attempted; with a storyline that will feature two interconnected narratives, one during the present day, and one chronicling the Eternals centuries-long existence.

With all of the story necessary to explore these ten characters, there have been inquiries as to the length of the film; we know now that Eternals will reportedly be one of Marvels longest movies yet.
Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao confirmed that the film will indeed hold the honor of having the longest run time; in an interview with Fandango, Zhao noted that the run time is in accordance with the amount of narrative that the film is attempting to explore.

“It could be longer!” The Director explained, “You know, it’s ten characters, the Celestials and 7,000 years. There’s a lot going on.”
The run time for the film is long enough to make it the third-longest MCU project ever produced; behind only the two final films of Marvel’s Infinity Saga; Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The length of the film becomes a nonfactor when we do, indeed, consider the amount of storytelling required for these immortal beings.
The promotional material for the film has shown us images of the Eternals presence in the ancient world, while we have also gotten a look at their presence in the modern world; which exist as ten very different, very distinct, experiences.

This is all occurring while the movie is exploring the Deviant threat of the old world, and the emergence threat of the new one; both of which require the intervening of the Eternals
This amount of history and character development is also being explored in conjunction with the very origin of the Marvel Universe.

Eternals will take its place as perhaps the redefining moment for the MCU; with the Celestials being very involved with the origins of the Marvel Universe, as one of the strongest beings that Marvel comics have ever explored.
These beings who created the Eternals as well as the Infinity stones are unmatched in the Marvel universe and represent a massive shift in the kinds of stories Marvel is willing to embrace.
