Broadway Performances of Aladdin Return, Once Again
In this whole new world during a pandemic, Broadway performances of Aladdin return once more! The show went live again last night after it shut down due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases.

A Hopeful Return
Audience members lined up outside the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, excited to see the show. However, Michael James Scott (who plays the role of Genie) was most thrilled!

Michael James Scott said, “We are so excited tonight, we are back, we are healthy, we are safe, we are just so excited to open our doors again.” Of course the actors and actresses of Aladdin are anxious to perform, they have put their heart and soul into the show’s preparation after all.
A two-billion-dollar business in the center of Manhattan has revived since many Broadway shows reopened. However, Aladdin has had a rough road with more than one re-opening.
Genie, I Wish to Return to Broadway!
The show officially reopened on September 28, 2021, but it was quickly shut down once more because of positive breakthrough COVID-19 cases; it closed twice in three days to be more exact. However, Aladdin is so popular, even a pandemic can’t stop audiences from coming to the New Amsterdam Theatre as it reopens, again and again.
This popular musical completely shut down from October 1, 2021 through October 10, 2021. Michael Scott James stated, “We had an opening and a reopening so we’re special. I’m just saying.”

Now, Aladdin’s COVID safety team checks everyone’s vaccination status and recent COVID-19 test results. This ensures the safety of all as Broadway performances of Aladdin return to the New Amsterdam Theatre.

“We just got our tickets about four hours ago, you have to have a negative test within six hours. We’re just happy we get to go,” stated one audience member. For now, magic sustains Broadway while science keeps it open.
