Marvel Officially Casts Will Poulter in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’
After rumors flooded the internet of the rumored casting by the studio, it appears that Marvel officially casts Will Poulter in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as Adam Warlock.
The rumors ran early this week, as it appeared James Gunn and Marvel Studios were circling their potential choice to play the humanoid Adam Warlock; with their sights firmly set on one young actor.
That news has reportedly been confirmed earlier today by Deadline.com, and later by The Hollywood Reporter, as sources close to Marvel have confirmed the validity of earlier reports.
Deadline noted, “production is expected to start this November.” as fans should be able to watch Poulter make his Marvel debut in the Guardians of the Galaxy third film in 2022, as one of the Phase Four projects still to come from Marvel.
First teased by Gunn during the post-credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Adam Warlock is first revealed through the cacoon-like structure housing the created being, housed by Ayesha and the Sovereign.
Deadline notes the near rigorous search for the right actor to portray the role; noting the timeline that was required to make a correct casting, and the incredible amount of potential choices, all with a great desire to join the Marvel family.
The website notes, “Gunn and execs began their lengthy search for the person would be playing the Warlock at the end of August, with Poulter meeting along with several other actors for the highly coveted part.”
All MCU roles are immensely coveted, as the longevity of many of their characters would be very appealing for those in such an inconsistent profession; Poulter was the beneficiary of the long search, as Gunn and those at Marvel Studios saw something in his potential as the character not seen otherwise.
Deadline continued, “execs and Gunn took their time with the role given how excited fans were when it was first teased in that post-credit scene in Vol. 2, and in the end, Poulter’s test was too good to pass on.”
This glowing endorsement should be enough to get any fan immensely excited, as we should have an incredible Adam Warlock coming to screens as Marvel officially casts Will Poulter in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
