“Winnie the Pooh” Musical Prepares for Stage Debut
A. A. Milne’s adventures to the 100 Acre Woods with Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh and their friends will soon take the stage in a new show, “Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation.” In just weeks, the Rockefeller Productions with Disney Theatrical show opens at Theatre Row in New York City on October 21st. Recently, they shared a darling new promotional video of one of the shows new songs.
“Lookin for fun, chasin’ some honey bees, Pooh Bear, I know he’s out there. Rumbley, tumbley, climbin’ a honey tree,” the show’s new theme song cheerfully states. In the recently released video, “High School Musical” star Corbin Bleu performs the anthem alongside puppetry of Winnie the Pooh and his friends.
The show itself chronicles the new show will follow the tight-knit group of pals on their light-hearted, poignant adventures in the woods.
“Featuring the Sherman Brother’s classic Grammy-award winning music with further songs by A.A. Milne, this beautiful fresh stage adaptation is told with stunning life-sized puppetry through the eyes of the characters we all know and love, in a new story from the Hundred Acre Wood,” according to the show’s site.
Though the bulk of the show is already cast, an open call for Christopher Robin will take place on Monday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Theatre Row. Hopeful actors must be 12 or older but look younger to play the dear friend to Pooh.
The call also requires the actor to be a local New Jersey or New York City resident and to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Those interested should bring a bio and a headshot.
