Sergio Announces Delay in EPCOT Return
The schedule of events on Walt Disney World’s site continues to show Sergio, the EPCOT fan-favorite mime and juggler, returning to his post at the Italy pavilion tomorrow. However, Sergio himself took to Facebook this morning to alert his folllowers that his highly anticipated debut will be delayed a bit longer.
Like many other popular performers at EPCOT, Sergio did receive an invitation to return to his role at the theme park, according to this post.
“I officially got an invitation to continue the Sergio show at Epcot Disney Park, and I’m very grateful and I want to come back to you! I love you so much! This show is half my life!” Sergio posted in the wee hours of the morning.
He goes on though in the post to describe his extensive recovery from an accident over the past year and a half.
“The doctor said I couldn’t come back at all. I’m working on it, and I hope to get back from Sergio’s show. I need a few months and time. I work hard [and] I need your support and motivation back on Disney,” Sergio stated in the post. The talented juggler must now hone his craft in a new way, as his injuries required surgery that rendered him unable to bend his head up to the sky. Obviously, this is an important movement for a juggler.
Despite the announcement, Walt Disney World’s website continues to show Sergio, the master juggler, appearing in the park beginning tomorrow. Many performers will return to World Showcase to begin “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” tomorrow, which marks the resort’s 50th anniversary in a celebration over the next 18 months. We certainly hope that Sergio can overcome these challenges and return to his show during the momentous occasion.
