Disneyland Surprise “Side Eyeing Chloe” Meme Sells for $74,000
Say what? A hilarious internet meme of an unimpressed-looking little girl has just sold for a huge sum of $74,000.
The meme, popularly referred to by users as “Side Eyeing Chloe”, has been popping up all over the internet since it was first uploaded in 2013.
After a mother told her daughters that they were going on a surprise trip to Disneyland, she caught the hilarious reaction of Chloe, pulling a face which would never usually be associated with a Disney trip on video.
Pulled from this video – which has now racked up over 20 million views on YouTube – the photo of Chloe quickly evolved into an internet sensation. Now, it is hard to properly convey the bemused emotion without the help of Chloe’s hilarious facial expression!
But how did the meme come to sell for so much money?
Well, it has been sold as what is known as a non-fungible token (NFT), which is a digital licence to show ownership of electronic art. Usually bought and sold for cryptocurrency, Chloe’s photo sold for around $74,000 in total.
Speaking to the BBC, Chloe’s mother expressed delight at the sale, saying:
“If we’re going based off meme sales before, it’s a bit lower, but we’re so grateful for what it sold for… the money is awesome but it’s just the fact that we get to do this as a family is so much fun.”
But that’s not the best news for Chloe and her family, as mom Katie confirmed that they are definitely planning on using some of the money to go on a family vacation to Walt Disney World next year!
A perfect full-circle moment, if you ask us!
