New Spaceship Earth Lighting Displays “Visual Poetry”
Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley often shares unique glimpses and introspective details with his followers on Instagram. This morning, the storyteller offered yet another preview of the incredible lighting that now dots Spaceship Earth in honor of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”

“This first-look image actually gives you a glimpse into the near future when the night will come alive in an entirely new way with this Beacon of Magic. Inspired by past and future, the classic Spaceship Earth color gradients will be rendered richer by our new lighting fixtures, evoking twinkling starlight in an evening sky,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley today in his Instagram post.

Maintaining the same twilight gradient of colors that have long enhanced the iconic EPCOT architecture, the new glimmering lights provide an extra touch of magic to the already beloved attraction.
Beacons of Magic Light the Sky
Beacons of Magic, the title for the evening enhancements that will illuminate each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks’ welcoming main structures, will certainly enhance the exquisite backdrop that Spaceship Earth always provides to close a night at EPCOT.
Engineers worked tirelessly over the past few weeks and months installing the thousands of lights that will usher Spaceship Earth’s nighttime presentation into the 21st century.

An incredible new water feature also complements the “Beacons” upgrades, which will debut in just two weeks. On October 1st, the Walt Disney World Resort officially begins its much-anticipated 50th Anniversary celebration on that day with a wide variety of new attractions, events, dining experiences, and entertainment. This week, EPCOT ushered in the opening of its brand-new flagship merchandise location, Creations Shop, and the redesigned of Club Cool in a first-look at the enormous EPCOT refurbishment still underway.
