Tropical Storm Mindy Forms Off Florida Coast
For those visiting Florida going into the weekend, you’ll want to be aware of Tropical Storm Mindy.
She formed off of the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday evening. The National Hurricane Center posted warnings for the Florida panhandle earlier this evening.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the tropical storm as of 8pm. was located 25 miles west-southwest of Apalachicola. At that times winds were recorded at 45 mph.
The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to make landfall tomorrow morning. At the moment a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Mexico Beach to the Steinhatchee River
As you can see from the tweet above, Mindy is expected to move across Florida into the western Atlantic by tomorrow.
The storm is expected to drop 2-4 inches with some areas getting as much as 6 inches.
Earlier this evening, Disney World experienced some bad weather with the Happily Ever After fireworks at Magic Kingdom being delayed for a bit.
If you’re in the area or planning on traveling tomorrow please follow the weather. The National Weather Service said that there may be tornado sightings as a result of the weather system.
As the busy Hurricane Season continues, meteorologists a paying attention to a tropical wave on the African coast which may result in additional storms to track.
