Lights Out! Part Of Main Street USA Goes Dark Temporarily
Our friend Nick over at MagicalNewsLIVE! was walking right down the middle of Main Street today when he noticed that things looked a bit darker than usual.
Though the issue has recently been resolved, earlier this evening, the electricity was out on half of Main street USA.
Looking up Main Street toward the Castle you can see that the streetlamps, decorations and store windows are dark.
The outage extended all the way up to the HUB.
It was a very quiet sight to not see this bustling area all aglow with the luminous Mickey Pumpkins on the lamp posts.
The sun hadn’t fully set yet so it wasn’t too much of a struggle for guests making their way in or out of the park.
However, we are glad the issue was resolved before it got too dark.
Some of the stores on the darkened side still appeared to have lights on inside.
While others remained completely dark like in the image below.
It’s unusual to see the usually vibrant shop windows all dark.
It’s not often that we see a larger power outage like this.
Thankfully things tend not to be down for too long as Disney’s teams are quick to arrive on the scene.
Some of the shops remained partially illuminated and stayed open, other shops appeared to have temporarily closed due to the outage.
With the cloudy sky and the Halloween décor, Magic Kingdom looks extra ominous tonight!
Even during Boo Bash with its late nights and fog machines, it doesn’t look quite this scary.
It does give us beautiful sightlines of the Cinderella Castle though, illuminated in the background in it’s beautiful Earidescent shades.
With Disney’s 50th Anniversary kicking off in just a few short weeks, we hope Disney finishes up some last minute projects and works out all of the kinks before the crowds descend.
In addition, there are also the late night Boo Bash events happening at the Magic Kingdom on select evenings through October 31st.
We waited around for a bit for the lights to come back on.
The outage was definitely noticeable for guests exiting the park after a long day.
It’s weird to see silhouettes of guests in the darkness in the heart of Main Street.
Oddly enough it was only the top half of Main Street nearest the castle that was impacted by the outage.
It was business as usual in the area nearest to the theme park entrance.
Looking toward the train station, the contrast gives you good idea at home many lights are usually visible on Main Street.
