Weather Alert: Weather Systems in Gulf and East Coast Could Disrupt Travel This Week
Happy Tuesday Disney friends! For those planning a post-Labor Day visit to “The Most Magical Place on Earth” there are currently some tropical weather systems that you’ll want to be aware of.
According to a piece in the Orlando Sentinel this morning, National Hurricane Center has it’s eyes on a system that is expected to pass over Florida this week.
At the moment, there is a trough out in the Gulf of Mexico which has a 10% chance of turning into a tropical depression by Thursday and a 30% chance of this happening by Sunday.
Now, in what is sure to be good news for those Disney World-bound, the system (at the moment) is not expected to strengthen too much before charting a course across Florida. According to the Sentinel there are upper level winds that meteorologists are predicting will stop the system from developing into a hurricane.”
So what does this mean for Disney World visitors? You may want to be on the lookout for some unsightly weather going into the weekend and you’ll want to keep tabs on the weather as its early enough that predictions could change. Should it develop into a tropical storm it would be given the name Mindy.
In looking at the weather forecast for Central Florida, there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms today, 60% on Wednesday and will remain that was going into the weekend. That decreases to a 40% chance on Sunday.
There is also another hurricane out in the Atlantic that is an area of focus this week. Though Hurricane Larry won’t have an impact on Disney World directly, those flying to Florida from the Northeast going into the weekend will want to keep an eye on potential flight disruptions.
At the moment, the National Weather Service says that there is a potential risk of rip currents as well.
