Sequel for Live-Action Jungle Cruise Gains Momentum
It’s looking more and more like a sequel for Jungle Cruise could be coming our way.
According to a piece in The Hollywood Reporter, Disney, impressed with the $100 million that the film grossed at the domestic box office has decided to give the project the green light!
Though it’s early days for the project we know that both Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt will be returning for the sequel. We can also confirm that the screenwriter of the original film Mickey Green will also be penning the sequel.
According to THR, director Jaume Collet-Serra as well as producers John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. They will be joined by Scott Sheldon as executive producer.
The first live-action Jungle Cruise film made it’s debut on July 30, 2021 and grossed more than $35 million at the domestic box office opening weekend. The film also debuted on Disney+ at the same time for a premier access fee which earned Disney another $30 million that first weekend.
To this day, the movie is going strong at the box office worldwide it is estimated that the film has generated roughly $187 million.
The film also did well with audiences who gave it a A- Cinemascore along with a 92% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
