Lashana Lynch on Potential Return to MCU
Lashana Lynch, star of Captain Marvel, teased a potential return for Maria Rambeau to the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently in an interview with The Los Angeles Times.
Lynch starred in the first Captain Marvel film alongside Brie Larson as Maria Rambeau, Carol Danvers’ best friend, and a former pilot for the United States Air Force.
Her character Maria was also the mother of Monica Rambeau who appears in the movie as a young girl and is later introduced into WandaVision as a woman who was a victim of Thanos’ universe-changing snap.
It is in the Disney+ series that we learn of Maria’s battle with cancer and ultimate passing that unfortunately happened during the time period before those who were snapped returned.
When talking about a possible return to the MCU, even with her character Maria dying, Lynch stated:
Weirder things have happened in the franchise.
She carries on to say,
You’ll have to ask Kevin Feige that. In fact, I should ask Kevin Feige that!
Although the sequel to Captain Marvel– named The Marvels, is already in production there could still possibly be a chance for Lynch to return, given that Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially opened up the multiverse.
There could also be some scenes of Monica, portrayed by Teyonah Parris, dealing with the grief of her mother when in the company of Danvers once more.
In fact, in WandaVision it alluded that there was some tension between the two, tension that will most likely be raised by the passing of Maria.
