Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. follows the life of sixteen-year-old Lahela, a prodigy high school student who also happens to be juggling a career as a doctor.
The series stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee (known for leading Disney Channel’s Andi Mack) as Lahela, alongside Kathleen Rose Perkins, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Jason Scott Lee, and more. The series was created and developed by screenwriter Kourtney Kang.
If the name ‘Doogie’ stands out to you, it may be because Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. is an all-new reboot of the ABC sitcom Doogie Howser, M.D., which starred Neil Patrick Harris and ran from the late 80s through the early 90s.
Amusingly, Doogie Howser is referenced in this all-new trailer, revealing that Lahela is nicknamed ‘Doogie’ by her colleagues for being just like the eponymous hero in the original series!

Another highly-anticipated reboot that has been recently announced for Disney+ is Home Sweet Home Alone, which will hit the streaming platform later this year.
The trailer sets the show up to be filled with family drama, medical excitement, teenage relationships and more, all set within the beautiful, paradisiacal backdrop of O’ahu. Whilst in Hawaii, Peyton Elizabeth Lee visited Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa, with Disney Parks Blog sharing some stunning images.
Doogie Kamealoha M.D. will start streaming exclusively on Disney+ from September 8th, with new episodes airing weekly. Watch the trailer in full below…
