Lightning Almost Strikes Cinderella’s Castle!
It was a dark and stormy night … at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom last night!
Guests attending last night’s Disney After Hours Boo Bash got front row seats to a major thunderstorm.

Lightning strike!
MickeyTravels agent Caitlyn Stoyka was attending the Boo Bash and captured dramatic footage of the storm.
As you can see in this video, lightning almost strikes Cinderella’s Castle several times! Thank you, Caitlyn, for providing this video.
According to Caitlyn, she and hundreds of other guests were taking shelter at Tomorrowland Terrace, watching the storm.
I love Walt Disney World in the rain, but this was a massive storm. Lightning strikes, thunder, torrential downpour.
Even cast members were looking a little nervous.

Unfortunately, the storm put a real damper on the night’s festivities.
Many attractions were down due to the storm. On top of that, candy was in short supply!
Our Boo Bash experience
The storm really seemed to mess things up for guests. Our MickeyBlog and MickeyTravels writers and agents have attended Boo Bash and have had a fantastic time!
They have reported that the park capacity has been great. No wait times for attractions, or just short wait times. Lots of fun snacks being handed out for free, and, of course, candy!
The mood in the park for the previous Boo Bash evenings has been ebullient – guests have been dressing up and really enjoying themselves at the After Hours event.
Making up for the storm
Due to the storm, Disney has given guests a one-day, single-park ticket good for one year. That doesn’t take away people’s disappointment at their night being cut short, but it is nice that they’re doing something to make guests feel better.
What is Boo Bash
In case you don’t know, at Boo Bash you can:
“Discover a new, frightfully fun event featuring Halloween-themed cavalcades, Character sightings, trick or treating throughout the park and more!”
Boo Bash events are happening two or three nights a week until October 31. All dates are sold out EXCEPT September 12. Snatch those up if you can!
Let’s hope lightning doesn’t literally strike twice at Cinderella’s Castle!
