Disney Confirms Three Rides for Paid Front of the Line Lightning Lane Access
It’s been a whirlwind of information about the all-new Disney Genie today! Us here at MickeyBlog have been sifting through it all and one of the questions that has come up is what rides will give guests the option of paid, front of the line access via Lightning Lane. While Disney has not announced all the attractions this service will be eligible for, they have confirmed three of them.
Before we go over those attractions, if you haven’t heard, Disney has officially announced today that they will be retiring the MaxPass at Disneyland and FastPasses at Walt Disney World. In their place, Disney will be rolling out the all-new Disney Genie this Fall.
Once the Disney Genie launches, Guests will have three options to access their favorite rides. The first one is the traditional stand-by line as well as the virtual queues that are currently available for Rise of the Resistance in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. These options will be included in the price of your admission like they have been.
Secondly, Guests will have the option to upgrade their ticket to the Genie+ option. The Genie+ is priced per ticket per day and allows Guests to “choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance” throughout your day while you are in the Parks. While most attractions – including the Haunted Mansion – will have Lightning Lane access there will still be a few premium rides that will require another upgrade to gain front of the line access.
If you are looking to ride one of these top tier attractions with little to no wait time, then you will want to purchase one of these individual ride Lighting Lane upgrades during your day. These can be purchased at any time during your day as long as there is availability. You do NOT have to have per-purchased the Genie+ service to purchase these individual Lighting Lane upgrades.
The cost for the paid individual Lighting Lane access “will vary by date, attraction and park.”
So, now, let’s get to the point! After today’s announcements, we can confirm that the following attractions will not be a part of the Genie+ Lightning Lane access but will require an additional fee to gain front of the line access:
- Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park in Disneyland
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World
- Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure in Disneyland
It is also likely these following attractions at Walt Disney World will offer the upgraded Lighting Lane paid access:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT
- Slinky Dog Dash in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Remember, these three attractions above are just what I think and not confirmed yet!
