No longer does a member of the MCU require their own film- with all of the necessary marketing dollars and risk involved- as the studio has now seen the benefit in exploring previously unknown characters through the long-form storytelling format available to them through streaming platforms.
Wandavision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki have all explored their own characters through episodic storytelling, with many more following suit, fans are as excited as ever to see what Marvel has next.
One of these next series is the Oscar Isaac-led Moon Knight; a series that will follow the adventures of the special forces officer turned dual-personality crime fighter, Marc Spector.
The Moon Knight series made a major casting announcement earlier this year with the news that veteran actor Ethan Hawke would be joining the series; assumingly as the main villain.
Hawke joined Seth Meyers’s Late Night show to discuss the role, and how the massive sets and fantastic story are some of the most magnificent that he’s seen during his life working in film.
Hawke stated in the interview,
I’ve been acting since I was 13, I did my first movie in 1985- thats a long time ago; these are the best sets I have ever been on in my life. The costumes, teh set, the production design, the cinematography; all those elements are kind of mind boggling. So I have entered some alternate universe, and it is kind of interesting.
The actor went on to discuss how he got the role, crediting Oscar Isaac for involving him very early on, due to his respect and admiration for Hawkes’s other work.
Fans can catch the full interview below, but it’s fantastic to hear just how Hawke got involved with the project, and how excited he seems about how the process has moved along thus far.
The series is currently slated for a 2022 release, and will hopefully carry on Marvel’s legacy of fantastic Disney+ exclusive series.
