It has been confirmed that an all-new, original movie Home Sweet Home Alone is set to bring holiday cheer to Disney+ this Christmastime. The announcement was made in a rather festive thread of tweets, which showed the movie’s star-studded cast getting really into the holiday spirit!
Home Sweet Home Alone is set to be the reboot of the classic Home Alone franchise that we’ve all been waiting for.
Following The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox studios back in 2019, it was expected that Disney would be putting their own spin on a number the movies the studios had ‘inherited’, but details on this Home Alone spinoff have been rather quiet up until now.
Although we can’t report much on what the plot to Home Sweet Home Alone will be, we know that it will revolve around a young boy named Max who – you guessed it – has been left home alone for the holidays. His adventure arises by the arrival of a married couple, who aim to steal a precious family heirloom.
It sounds intriguing!
And, of course, we know that any Disney holiday movie will be filled with warmth, cheer, and magic!
The cast of this movie includes Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney, Archie Yates, Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki, and Chris Parnell. Dan Mazer will direct, and the script was penned by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.
Does Devin Ratray – pictured above – look familiar? Of course he does – he played Buzz in the original Home Alone franchise!
It has also been rumored that Macauley Culkin – aka Kevin himself – will also make a cameo in Home Sweet Home Alone, which fans of the original franchise would be sure to love.
Home Sweet Home Alone will stream exclusively on Disney+ from November 12th, so in plenty of time for the holidays.
The original Home Alone movies are already available to watch on the platform, perfect for a nostalgic movie night ahead of the reboot!
We shall look forward to hearing more about Home Sweet Home Alone over the coming weeks, so stay tuned to MickeyBlog to read more.
