My Disney Experience App Joins in the Countdown for the 50th Anniversary
Now that October 1st is only fifty days away, the countdown to the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World is well and truly underway!
A whole assortment of exciting activities, events, and more have been already been announced for this epic celebration, that we just wouldn’t want to miss any of it. So, today’s brand new update in the My Disney Experience app – aka the home of all of our Disney plans and more – was an exciting find when we booted up the app this morning.
That’s right – a brand-new and magical countdown has appeared on the app’s homepage, slowly ticking away the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the eighteen-month-long celebration finally commences at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Not only that but a whole new section has been added to the app, featuring a plethora of information about what guests can expect from the anniversary. If you weren’t excited already, that’s about to change now! Let’s click that ‘Learn More’ button and see what’s in store…
By following the link, the first thing we are greeted with is an animated graphic of the official logo for the resort’s 50th anniversary. It’s sparkly, it’s EAR-idescent, and it’s very exciting! To quote the app (and to paraphrase Moana) ‘the magic is calling everyone’.
Scrolling down, we are invited to ‘celebrate the small stuff, the big stuff and even the in-between stuff’. That sounds like just about everything to me, and I’m ready for it.
We can’t wait to experience all these magical touches coming to the entire resort, and celebrate with the incredible Cast Members which will make the event worthwhile.
As we scroll further down this page in the app, we are met with some stunning concept imagery for the biggest special attractions which will be taking place during the event. The first two we see are the big ones – the nighttime spectaculars we have all been waiting for!
First up is Disney Enchantment, the new firework show which will take the place of Happily Ever After from October. Unlike other Magic Kingdom firework shows, the spectacle of Disney Enchantment will extend all the way down Main Street, U.S.A. from Cinderella Castle, and will surely be a sight to behold.
A look at Harmonious
The second show advertised is the long-awaited Harmonious, which will take place in Epcot. You can get a sneak peek of what we can expect from Harmonious in this video, released by Disney last month.
The next event we are shown is Beacons of Magic, during which guests will be able to marvel at the nightly illumination of each theme park icon.

Also to look forward to is the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection – golden statues depicting fifty of our favorite characters, which will be displayed across the resort.
If you’ve been following MickeyBlog recently, you’ll know how eagerly we have been following the reveals of each statue, and we can’t wait to see them all in all their golden glory from October.
Next up is the announcement of Disney KiteTails, an all-new show which will be soaring into Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
This will be a daytime show in the park, and we’re sure it will feature a ROAR-some range of character kites!

Finally, the app mentions the grand opening of the highly-anticipated Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, which will finally open in Epcot on October 1st. Previews for Annual Passholders and select D23 members are set to start soon for this ride, so stay tuned to MickeyBlog for our first reviews!
