Marvel Showcases the Power of Shang-Chi in New Trailer
With the next installment of Marvel Studios Marvel Cinematic Universe less than a month away we’re getting our last few looks into what we can expect; recently, Marvel showcases the power of Shang-Chi in a new trailer!
The newest addition to the MCU is just weeks away at this point, as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings September 3rd release date is fast approaching.
The new 30-second teaser trailer condenses the story of the film; giving fans a brief view into the world of the film title character, and his desire to escape out of the shadow of his evil father, The Mandarin.
The themes of legacy and power seem to be wrought throughout the newest MCU film, with Shang-Chi forging his own path apart from his father seeming to bet the central conflict of the character’s story.
The crux of Shang-Chi’s story is summarized in the clear statement the character makes to start the trailer; “All my life, I tried to forget my past, my dad, and the ten rings.”
Following the childhood training of Shang-Chi, and watching the character struggle with inheriting the legacy that his father so designed for him, will forge a story that births one of Marvel’s key characters moving forward.
One very cool tidbit about the movie is an interaction between Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Awkwafina’s Katy; this interaction sees Lui explain how to properly pronounce the name Shang-Chi.
The thrilling trailer displayed the power of Shang-Chi, the relentlessness of his training, and the expectation of his evil father; while also teaching new fans how to properly say the characters name.
The final few shots of the trailer show Shang-Chi, standing tall with a group of red-clad warriors- prepared to go face to face with an army of heavily armed soldiers in black.
The film feels more epic than most MCU debuts; with giant battle scenes intercut with frantic CGI fights between characters.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are shaping up to be one of the more unique first films in recent memory; and with the title character likely getting the Ten Rings to conclude the film, his ability to stand his ground in the greater MCU is a given.
We dont know yet how the multiversal implications of Loki season one will affect Shang-Chi within his film, but we cant wait to see how the story unfolds!
