Hugh Jackman Gives Heartwarming Response To Question About MCU Return
Before the MCU became what we know it as today, Marvel properties were being used to make films that captured the imagination of moviegoers in the ’90s and into the 2000s; Hugh Jackman Gives a heartwarming response to a question about his possible MCU return.
There is perhaps not a recurring role more attributed to a single actor than that of Hugh Jackman’s decade-long run as Wolverine.
The Australian actor was first introduced to the public playing the brash mutant in 2000’s live-action X-Men film; a movie that became an integral part in birthing the superhero genre of films that have so dominated cinema’s today.
Jackman would go on to star in four x-Men films, and two Wolverine-centered spin-off films, at the conclusion of his career inhabiting the character.
It was his final performance in Logan, that saw Jackman portray the lead in what many have considered one of the best comic book adaptations that cinema has ever produced.
Able to portray the unmatched intensity, while also displaying the hidden vulnerability that has endeared a generation of Marvel fans to the character, Jackman truly is a once-in-a-generation talent, that portrayed a once-in-a-lifetime character.
With the actor putting away the claws for good following his performance in Logan, rumors have been everpresent that Jackman could return under the guidance of Kevin Feige and the MCU.
Jackman, during the promotional tour for his upcoming film Reminiscence, was asked by Screen Rant about the possibility of his return to the role of Wolverine within the MCU.
The veteran actor noted his fantastic relationship with Kevin Feige, and how much he adored his time playing that character, as Hugh Jackman gives a heartwarming response to the question about his MCU return.
Jackman stated,
It’s in my past, man. Don’t tell anyone, alright? Let me just say one more thing. Because as I said that, theres not a day goes by where I’m not unbeleivably grateful for having been part of that MCU universe. PArticularly to be there at the beginning of it, and to watch it. To see Kevin Feige going from being an assistant to a producer and a mate of mine, to where he is today. And that was a role of a lifetime.
So, I dont ever want people to feel that when I say I’m done, its a glib thing. It was one o fthe great chapters of my life.
For many fans, this is not what they hoped they’d hear, as Hugh JAckman has come to be so defined by the role he had mastered over his decade-plus of portraying him.
This does mean, however, that whenever Marvel decides to bring the beloved Wolverine into the MCU, we will have a brand new actor dawning the signature claws and sideburns.
Who knows, maybe they’ll find the same joy and gratitude in a decade-long stint as the adored character.
