Famed ‘Shang-Chi’ Stunt Coordinator, Brad Allan, Dies at 48
One of the true legends of the stunt coordinating world has left us too soon, as widely beloved stunt performer Brad Allan dies at 48.
Just a month prior to the release of one of his highest-profile collaborations- working with Marvel Studios to bring his brand of stuntwork to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings– Allan has passed on from what has been reported by Deadline as an “illness.”

The news first came from a legend whom Allan had worked closely with for the majority of his career in stuntwork on various films; Jackie Chan.
Chan spoke to the incredible talent that Allan was during his life; and how that talent and the tutelage Allan received from being a part of Chan’s famed JC Stunt Team, led to his reputation as being one of Hollywood’s most adored choreographers.

Chan stated on his website,
It was becuse of his amazing skills and talent, he transformed from being a fan to a stuntman, and eventually joined my JC Stunt Team…
Over the years, he’s made masterpeices that has amazed people in the film industry, including [the] ‘Kingsman’ film series, ‘ Wonder Woman’, and many others, making him a very well known action choreographer in Hollywood, and also an excellent role-model to many action stars.
Allan’s work spans countless film studios, but his contribution to the Walt Disney Company cannot be overstated.

Allan has worked on films like the groundbreaking and record-setting Avatar, the action-packed thrill ride of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and served as both supervising stunt coordinator and second-unit director on Marvels upcoming blockbuster Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
As Chan stated on his website, Allan was a Melbourne, Australia native that was obsessed with Chinese Kung-Fu.
He first met Chan on the set of the film Mr. Nice Guy, until he was able to work with the Chinese film legend in a more direct role on the 1997 film Gorgeous.

These collaborations allowed Allan to become the first non-Asian member of Chan’s JC Stunt Team; one of the premiere stuntwork organizations in the world.
Edgar Wright, one of Hollywood’s brightest directors, took to Twitter to recognize the greatness of the young stunt coordinator, after learning the news that Brad Allan dies at 48.
