Shang-Chi Has Taken Over Times Square
With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings only a month away, promotion for its release has reached an all-time high; the Star of the film, Simu Liu, shared a video that clearly shows that Shang-Chi has taken over Times Square.
Despite rising COVID-19 cases, Disney has not scheduled a change in the September release date for the highly anticipated Shang-Chi film.
After a year delay- with its original February 2021 release long in the rearview mirror- the film’s cast and crew fought through a pandemic riddled year in order to finish the ambitious Marvel project.
Speaking with Comicbook.com at the premiere of Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Liu spoke on the craziness of the circumstances of the project, noting that, “It’s been a wild ride.”
The actor continued,
Then its just been such a long fight with this movie. we shot in Sydney over hte course of 13 to 14 months, we shut down for four months in teh middle when the whole world shut down, and there was a time where we werent sure whether we were going to be able to finish it even when we startee back up and had COVID testing and protocols and all of that, we didnt know if we would amke it to the finish line. Its just such an incredinle feeling to know we did and to know this movie is now ready for people to watch. Its just such an incredible feeling.
All of the hard work and dedication that went into filming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rigns had to have felt worth it, as Liu went to Twitter to spread the news that Shang-Chi has taken over Times Square.

In a time for Marvel Studios that is wrought with uncertainty, the plan is to release Shang-Chi to a theatrical audience.
Whether this plan will alter, due to the lawsuit by Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson, is still unknown.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Marvel distribute this film as a dual-release, capitalizing on the premiere access model that has made the studio over $60 million for Black Widow alone.
We do know that Shang-Chi will begin his MCU journey in this upcoming feature film debut, and hopefully, fans will continue to see Marvel’s evolution in a universe presently coping with a fractured multiverse.
