Disney’s Cruella To Offer Four 4K Blu-Ray Versions
On-disk features are the same, the packaging and physical extras are what make the difference…
Do you collect Blu-rays? Do you desire Disney movies in 4K?
Well, decisions may come soon. Disney’s Cruella might just keep you guessing until you click “check out.”
John Archer, a senior contributor for Forbes, explained the very interesting way(s) Disney will present Cruella in 4K Blu-ray.
Cruella, starring Emma Stone as everyone’s favourite evil dog thief, is set to arrive on 4K Blu-ray on September 21. This much we’ve known since June. Disney has just revealed… Cruella is actually going to be available in no less than four different 4K disc packages, with exclusive editions being designed for Best Buy, Target, and Walmart alongside the separate general retail version.
Four different releases? Wow.
As you recall, Cruella brings us the background of the antagonist of the animated Disney classic, 101 Dalmations. Disney added, “During the 1970s London punk rock revolution, a young grifter (Emma Stone), transforms herself into the raucous, revenge-bent Cruella de Vil.”
And these new Blu-rays could transform your wallet into an empty valley, populated only by lint.
Check Out Cruella’s Different Looks
Here are the major differences between the three non-standard releases (beyond the cover art).
Target: Two exclusive lithographs.
Walmart: e-book novelization
Best Buy: SteelBook case
And the standard release is above.
Keep in mind: The ON-disk features are the same.
Hidden Meaning?
Forbes’ Archer also mentioned one important hidden message not included on the physical media.
Moreover, it might be the most important feature of the four releases.
Archer surmised:
As well as all being attractive options in their own individual ways, Disney going to the trouble of creating a quartet of Cruella 4K Blu-ray editions seems to be a healthy sign of commitment to physical media from a studio which a few months ago was rumored to be considering pulling out of the 4K Blu-ray market…
Pretty good news for anyone who remains a collector of Blu-Rays. However, you still have to figure out which version you’ll take home!
