Big Top Souvenirs Gets a Circus-Style Paint Job
Big Top Souvenirs a popular shop located in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom is currently undergoing a refurbishment.
Like many other Disney World attractions, the big top tent is getting a bit of a sprucing up as we are now only two month’s away from Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration!
As you can see this area has been blocked off by shrubbery while work is carried out.
When we popped by this area of Magic Kingdom today we noticed two crew members doing work to the top of the big top tent.
We stopped near the sight for a moment to see what this team was working on.
The duo that was working away on the crane didn’t seem to mind.
It wasn’t long before we realized what they were doing.
As you can see they have paint rollers in hand and are actually painting the stripes on the tent!
As you can see from the images below, some areas of the big top ceiling feature alternating blue stripes.
It gives the feeling that the roof is multiple panels when in actuality the stripes are painted on!
This unpainted areas look very different from the ornate colors found on the section already completed.
Here’s a look at the vivid areas that have already been areas.
But the painting isn’t just limited to the roof of the tent.
We looked closer and noticed that some stripes are missing.
If you’ve been to Big Top Souvenirs, you’ll also know that the sides of the tent also feature yellow stripes.
This is the reason for the yellow paint rollers that the crew were using.
This is actually being used to add some bright yellow stripes to the base of the tent.
The Big Top is still a work in progress at the moment.
There are still areas of the base and roof that srequire updating.
We’ll be popping by Magic Kingdom all most each and every week and promise to keep you posted!
We can’t wait to see the finished product and to be able to pop in once more for our iced slushies and Disney merchandise.
Other noteworthy Walt Disney World refurbishments include Main Street Station (which is currently undergoing a similar paint job), Main Street Confectionary, it’s a small world and Jungle Cruise.
This is a bustling time as we wait for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration to kick off on October 1, 2021.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is still open as is The Barnstormer.
If you’re curious as to how the TRON Coaster construction is going, The Barnstormer is a perfect place to go.
From the queueing area you get clear views of the TRON construction site and all we can say about this coaster is that it’s going to be epic!
Keep checking back with us for further Walt Disney World updates.
