Dwayne Johnson Reveals ‘Jungle Cruise’ Sequel Meeting at Disney
One of the most anticipated films of Disney’s 2021 slate, it appears the Studio may have found a new franchise of sorts as Dwayne Johnson reveals Jungle Cruise sequel meeting with Disney!
The film is based on the referred Disneyland and Magic Kingdom attraction, Jungle Cruise, and has been one of the surprise hits of the summer cinema season.
Thus far grossing $90 million worldwide, the film has turned out to be one of the most viewed films of the summer; with the audience receiving the film well in comparison to critics.
Comicbook.com first reported Dwayne Johnson’s posting that the 94% Audience score for Jungle Cruise was the highest of his career; Surpassing the veteran actors’ work on Moana, which was given an 89%
Dwayne Johnson has also given fans some pretty exciting information via his Twitter; noting that a sequel to Jungle Cruise may already be something Disney is interested in.
That’s right, Dwayne Johnson reveals Jungle Cruise sequel meeting with Disney!
After replying to Dale Arnold’s tweet praising the film- specifically the fantastic on-screen chemistry between the film’s stars- Dwayne Johnson responded with his appreciation, before noting that Disney was hosting a meeting about a potential sequel in the coming week!
Thank you buddy! Glad you guys loved #JungleCruise and we have a sequel meeting next weekend 👍🏾🚢🗺💀🌎 https://t.co/qYhyl0ogxz

The news is undoubtedly exciting, as Jungle Cruise would become the first attraction-based ride since the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.
With the response to most attraction-based films being less than desirable for the people at Disney, a sequel to Jungle Cruise could mean a resurgence of the genre.
Haunted Mansion, The Country Bears, and 1997’s Tower of Terror are all examples of Attraction based films that didn’t quite achieve the level of success that Disney had hoped; with the success of Jungle Cruise, however, could the narrative force Disney to consider a return to the concept?
With the potential of a Jungle Cruise sequel and the formulaic nature of Hollywood production, it isn’t entirely unfounded to believe that success with a potential franchisee could allow Disney to brainstorm what other beloved Walt Disney attractions could succeed on the big screen to today’s audience.
For now, fans can enjoy Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt as they navigate the unforgiving terrain of the Amazon in Jungle Cruise; available in theatres or on Disney+ with premiere access.
