Disney Shows off Sparkling Clean “Partners” Statue at Magic Kingdom
This week, we’ve seen a ton of projects underway at Magic Kingdom as the park starts to prepare for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.
The Main Street Railroad Station is being gussied up, work was done on “it’s a small world” and Jungle Cruise is being re-themed in time for this festive occasion. and so much more!
If you’ve been following along with us you’ve may have seen our coverage of the refurbishment work being carried out in the HUB of the Magic Kingdom. We reported just a few days ago that the process of removing the oxidation buildup on this famous Walt & Mickey statue has been completed.
Disney has also made it official with an Instagram post that came out earlier today. Let’s take a look.

As you can see, the post above was shared by Walt Disney Imagineering. In order to restore the statue which was originally created by famed Disney sculptor Blaine Gibson, conservators had to strip the sculpture to its bare metal before cleaning, reapplying patina and coating the entire figure in protective Polymer and wax.

We found this entire process absolutely fascinating. It made us appreciate this iconic statue even more.
Now the statue is looking pristine once again. You can even see the coloration in Mickey’s trousers and gloves and in the folds of Walt’s pants and jacket!
