VIDEO: Incredible & Emotional Cast Rehearsal as “The Lion King” Returns to the Stage
The Circle of Life is back to move us once more, as The Lion King is set to make its triumphant return to London’s West End. In celebration of the show’s upcoming opening, WhatsOnStage have released a video showing cast commencing their rehearsals following the pandemic shutdown of theaters across the UK.

Led by the wondrously talented Gugwana Dlamini as Rafiki, this cast’s rendition of the show’s opening song really hits hard to all of us who have missed theater and the magic of Disney Theatrical Productions over this past year and a half.
The video seems to perfectly capture the cast’s raw emotion and joy in performance, it’s hard not to feel the love tonight.
We can only imagine how electric the energy in this room must have been, with the cast ensemble and team of creatives all coming together following the devastating shutdown to bring this stunning musical back to UK audiences once more.
The Lion King is set to return to London next week, on July 29th. Performances will take place in the Lyceum Theatre, which has been the home of this beloved musical ever since it made its West End debut back in 1999.
Also taking place in London over the summer is the interactive, pop-up Disney on Stage Experience. A must-do for any fans of Disney and musical theater, activities and exhibits from all of Disney’s most beloved theater productions will be available for free to guests. Of course, this includes The Lion King, too!
