We’re Hearing More Popular Characters Will Appear in Obi-Wan
Rumors persist regarding three more very familiar names set to appear in Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Kenobi series….
As per usual, I am sensitive to many folks’ aversion to spoilers of any kind. So, if you want to remain completely unfettered as we approach the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi Series, you should get outta here.
Still here? Good.
More Surprises In-Store
Earlier this month, we posted about the Skywalker twins being cast for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
However, this week we’re hearing that R2-D2, C-3PO, and Star Wars Rebels Agent Kallus may also make appearances.
These scoops were all discussed on LRMonline.com.
Of the droids, Campbell Clark posted:
LRM can exclusively reveal that both Artoo and Threepio will make an appearance within Obi-Wan Kenobi. Again we cannot say how big a role they have, but they are in it… with Threepio’s memory wipe, he really should not meet Obi-Wan again before A New Hope. However, as I said to Kyle, just because they are in it doesn’t mean they share any scenes with McGregor? In fact, it’s possible Leia won’t be in any scenes with Kenobi either?
Meanwhile, of Kallus, LRM’s Shockey added:
We are confident to share that Agent Kallus will be in the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series. With the show taking place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, it would seem that Agent Kallus will be at the height of his imperial rank. It makes sense to have the best Imperial Agents hunting down Kenobi and other rebels.
It Just Makes Sense
The droids, well, that is a no-brainer.
As Clark points out, it makes perfect sense for them to be around Princess Leia, just as they were in Rogue One and A New Hope. Furthermore, they act as a kind of “chorus” in our favorite space opera, similar to Tahei and Matashichi in The Hidden Fortress.
For the most part, it’s ONLY R2-D2 who knows most of the Skywalker Story – his memory is never wiped.
Moreover, Agent Kallus is a much more important character than most would believe (especially for a heretofore animated character).
As an Imperial Security Bureau agent who becomes Fulcrum. FYI: Ahsoka Tano and Cassian Andor were both Rebellion “Fulcrum” agents.
But as LRM mentioned, his backstory is very detailed and speaks to the change in the galaxy between Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One/A New Hope.
Here’s hoping the rumors are true!
