CA Dad Creates Mini Disneyland for Daughter’s Birthday
Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth…in Carlsbad, California? A “Disney Dad” made his 8-year old daughter’s dreams come true and brought Disneyland home for her 8th birthday party!
According to the family-created YouTube page, Indy Eaton requested a Disneyland themed birthday party for her April 2020 birthday way back in the Fall of 2019. Her parents had some big things in the works but the pandemic shelved the party. Fast forward to April 2021 and young Indy certainly got her Disneyland wish!
While most parents might go for some Mickey themed decor and a castle cake, the Eatons (with some help from friends) went big! Indy’s party featured two classic Disney rides, two interactive themed areas and characters!
Tea Cup Birthday Ride
Mark Eaton built a spinning teacup straight out of the Mad Tea Party. In the family’s YouTube video, shown below, you can see the construction process from the first wooden circle on the floor through the birthday girl’s “test phase” in the garage.
I thought of mechanics to make those things move for a small budget,” Mark said.
We are so impressed with Dad’s creativity! The video also shows how the family got the giant yellow teacup into their house and themed a whole room around it. The Fairy Godmother even hosted the attraction!
StarTours Birthday Ride
While the teacup is impressive, Indy’s second Disneyland birthday ride will really blow you away. The Eatons turned their entire garage into a hangar for a StarTours attraction!
A moveable Starspeeder was constructed and the entire room transformed with lights, props, music, and an impressive host, Han Solo himself! A first person video of the StarTours – The Adventure Continues ride was played on a big screen and paired with lights and motion for full effect! Tiny droids even helped Han with his hosting duties.
The experience didn’t end there. A battle scene featuring Han, Princess Leia and Darth Vader topped it off! Check out the whole video of the DIY experience below!
In addition to the two amazing rides, an Indiana Jones themed ropes course, a Pirates of the Caribbean themed area and a Jungle Cruise animal area made up “Adventureland” in the Eaton’s backyard.
Mark Eaton has a background in filmmaking, which he says was a bit of an inspiration.
It kind of comes down to, if you want it or need it bad enough, you have to figure out a way to make it yourself,” said Eaton.
We’d call this one a rousing success!
