Disney Cruise Line is One Step Closer to Returning to the Water as First Test Cruise Complete
If you have been dreaming of your next Disney Cruise Line vacation, I have happy news to report! We are one step closer to the return of sailing on a Disney Cruise as the cruise line just wrapped up it’s first test cruise aboard the Disney Dream early this morning.

To get back in the water, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is requiring a test cruise with volunteer passengers for all cruise ships that depart from the United States. Disney Cruise Line was supposed to host their first test cruise a few weeks ago but those plans were scrapped after “inconsistent” COVID tests.

If you have been keeping tally, it has been 16 months since a Disney Cruise Line ship has departed – and returned – from Port Canaveral, Florida with passengers. While the volunteers on this cruise were employees of Disney, if all went well, Disney Cruise Line will soon be given the green light from the CDC to resume cruising with paying Guests within the next few weeks.

The first cruise the Disney Dream has scheduled with paying Guests is scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral, Florida on Monday, August 9, 2021.
In the coming weeks, we should hear of test cruises scheduled for Disney Cruise Line’s other three ships – the Fantasy, Magic, and Wonder. We should also hear the results from the CDC from the Disney Dream’s test cruise within the next week or so.

Test cruises are just one of the four requirements the CDC is requiring cruise lines to complete before they welcome paying passengers back on their ships to limit the spread of COVID-19.
