CDC Granted Hold On Ruling To Stop Cruise Line Sailing Injunction
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that the cruising industry has yet to get a kick start and has shut down for over a year due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Earlier this Summer, a US District Judge imposed an injunction on guidelines set forth by the CDC because the cruise line industry has concerns that the policy is holding them back from resuming operations.
In a very interesting turn of events, luck is now back on the CDC’s side after a federal appeals court put a hold on the district judge’s injunction. The motion was granted as of yesterday (July 17th) by the CDC.
So what exactly does this mean? As long as the hold is in place the CDC rules will stay in place. This means that cruise lines can ONLY resume operations if certain guidelines are met.

As ClickOrlando tells us, the impetus for the hold may be coming from the fact that Florida is seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases and a higher positivity rate. As the news network tells us, more than 45,000 new cases have been reported in the state with an 11.5% positivity rate.
However, as we previously reported, Disney Cruise LIne did embark on a test cruise yesterday with 300 Disney cast members serving as passengers. This test run was designed to meet the CDC criteria in the hopes that Disney Cruise Line’s fleet could start cruising again.

So when will Disney be returning to the high seas? As of going to print, Cruises have been cancelled through Mid-August with no word as of yet regarding additional cancellations. The test sailing was the first time a cruise ship has departed from Port Canaveral since March of 2020.
