Celebrate 70 Years of Alice in Wonderland with New, Mary Blair-Inspired Doll
This year marks the seventieth anniversary of Walt Disney Productions’ Alice in Wonderland. The timeless and beloved classic was released back in July 1951, the thirteenth animated classic created by the studios.
Of course, a 70th is an anniversary worth celebrating. So, in commemoration of the event, an exclusive, limited-edition Alice doll will be released on shopDisney, and we can’t wait to hear what you think.
This beautiful doll is so intricately detailed and unique, it looks sure to be popular amongst collectors. We love the Wonderland twist on Alice’s classic blue and white pinafore dress, which has been inspired by legendary Disney artist Mary Blair.
The doll’s colorful skirt is covered with stunning blooms, which portray a beautiful blend of Wonderland imagery and Blair’s creative flair. Gold butterfly accents also compliment the skirt, and really bring out Alice’s gorgeous, golden locks.
The top is a white lace, with a velvety black bodice that matches Alice’s iconic headband perfectly.
Although this may not match the classic Alice in Wonderland we’re used to, we love this fresh, non-traditional twist to celebrate the movie’s anniversary.
Known for her quirky and colorful designs, one of Mary Blair’s many contributions to the Walt Disney Company was working as a concept artist for Alice in Wonderland. It is a beautiful and fitting tribute that this doll has been created with her artwork in mind, and we’re sure you’ll agree.
