EPCOT Monorail Loop Officially Reopening This Weekend

When it comes to the Walt Disney World reopening watch, this one has been high on the list – the EPCOT Monorail Loop. Well, today I am happy to confirm that it will finally be reopening Sunday, July 18!

When Walt Disney World reopened just over a year ago, the Monorail loops that connected the Monorail resorts, the Magic Kingdom, and the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC) were the only ones that were open. Once the EPOCT Loop reopens this weekend, this will be the first time it has been opened since the Parks closed back in March 2020 for the pandemic.

With the EPCOT Monorail Loop reopening, two of the three Walt Disney World Monorail Resort Hotels will be suspending their bus service the Park beginning July 25. They are: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa as well at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

The Monorail at Disney’s Polynesian Village has currently been down due to the ongoing magical enhancements at the Resort Hotel including a complete overhaul of the Monorail Station. With today’s update, it is looking like the Polynesian station will be complete by mid-August as today Disney has stated that bus service from the Polynesian to EPCOT will be suspended by mid-August.

The announcement of the EPCOT Monorail returning is just one of several in recent weeks at Walt Disney World gets back to “normal.” While we still wait on some of our favorites to return including FastPasses and dining plans, it was announced earlier this week that all of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels would finally be open by the end of 2021 – including both Port Orleans Resort Hotels and all three All-Star Resort Hotels.
