Food and Wine Signage, Flags Return to EPCOT
Preparation for the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival to begin on Thursday is in full swing. With food booths going up around World Showcase, decorational signage popped up across the EPCOT main entrance plaza as well as the former Future World.
MickeyBloggers wandered the new modern decor. This year’s theming celebrates not only EPCOT’s newest rat resident, Remy, but also a new mid-century modern color pallete that defines the refurbishments in the front half of the park.
Food, Wine and a (delightful) Rat
Remy, who stars in his own attraction debuting in the France pavillion on October 1st, finds himself with updated colors. The melon-esque oranges contrast with his blue gray hues.
This year’s entrance plaza design adds deep maroons to offset bold fuscia accents. Images of wine bottles climb up decorative poles that also introduce guests to ingredients celebrated at this year’s booths.
The twirling embelishments certainly add to all of those annual photos snapped upon entering the park with Spaceship Earth proudly standing in the background.
Mentor che Colette Tatou joins Remy surrounded by symbolic food and wine icons in a color block banner to thank culinary adventurers for attending the festival as they exit the park.
Pavillion Flags Fly Again
The signature EPCOT flags also returned to the skies today, mounted in their positions around the entryway’s exquisite new fountain. Like so many other improvements at the park, the water feature celebrates EPCOT’s transformation this year to celebrate the Walt Disney World resort’s 50th anniversary.
The flags represent each pavillion at the theme park with nods to their original design. The color schemes tie into that chosen for the neighborhoods that now define the area formerly known as Future World.
Iconic attractions, including the Land pavillion represented by the green leaf-like symbol, as well as the Seas and Spaceship Earth received a celebratory flag. Even World Showcase received its own symbol in the yellow globe featured below.
Make sure to pop by the front entrance to EPCOT on your next visit to check out all of the new additions. Beginning Thursday, visitors can certainly enjoy an abundance of unique foods and beverages when the park begins its annual celebrations of all things gastronomy. Whether Mexico, Canada or France stands out a starting point, a journey of World Showcase really makes for such a stellar day during this delicious festival.
